ARUNACHALA IS SHIVA : A POEM BY NUPUR WALIA.

ARUNACHALA IS SHIVA

Arunachala
Arunachala

This morning, I had an epiphany.

I found myself questioning what does Arunachala mean to me?

By the sense of sight, it is a hill, appearing separate.

But it is not just that.

I realized, it stands for Still-ness. Like all of Nature.

Standing unmoved by anything that happens around it, Nature witnesses all, untainted by the chaos around it.

That’s what Holy Arunachala does.

Rooted in the center (heart) of the city of Thiruvannamalai, Arunachala reminds me of a spiritual seeker’s goal and quest – the journey inward, into the heart (the Hridayam).

This center, the Hridayam is the place of Siva (not Lord Shiva) which I understand is Absolute Stillness.

The man discovers God through his heart.

Arunachala is Siva.

Therefore, Arunachala Siva, though appearing separate through the senses, is the state, the reality, which a seeker has to find in himself.

Arunachala Siva is a seeker’s Hridayam.

A sense of oneness prevailed.

Maharshi, Arunachala, and Nuri, though separate in transient form, are nothing but One.. in the essence.
